Foreign people often say Japan is very clean.
It is true in this day and age but not when my grandparents were young. People threw away trash anywhere.
I think Tokyo Olympics in 1964 and Osaka Expo in 1970 changed Japan and the people’s mind.

60年前の日本を直接は知りませんが
映像で見ると汚いですね
でもそのためのお掃除の人もいたようで
今の考え方だと
「だったら最初から汚さなければいいじゃん」と
いうところでしょう
